Elephantmen #35

Part two of the "War Toys II" arc arrives in this 2011 Image Comics installment, and the cover wastes no time announcing its intensity — a battered, blood-spattered hippo soldier lunges forward with a massive gun leveled at the viewer and a blade in the other fist, surrounded by the chaotic debris of a battlefield. The overlaid text declaring "Enemy... A... Is Dead" adds an ominous layer to the already visceral image, rendered with striking detail by cover artists Boo Cook and Steve White. Richard Starkings and Boo Cook bring their distinctive vision to "The Drum at the Gate of Thunder," making this an issue that's hard to set back down.
