Elephantmen #29

Elephantmen #29 arrives in December 2010 as part six of the seven-part "Questionable Things" arc, and Camilla d'Errico and Lisa Wood have delivered a cover that stops you cold. A wide-eyed young woman with flowing pink-and-white hair holds a vivid magenta umbrella, a small hippo-like creature perched atop her head, the whole scene buzzing with neon-drenched urban energy and partially glimpsed figures crowding the background. Richard Starkings and his artistic collaborators Axel Medellin and Marian Churchland continue to make Elephantmen one of Image's most visually adventurous series, and this penultimate chapter — subtitled "Worse Things" — promises the arc is heading somewhere genuinely compelling.
