The main story follows Egbert as he becomes involved in a murder investigation at a hotel, where a sheriff asks him to explain his whereabouts during a bank robbery. A suspicious stranger accuses Egbert of being the culprit and claims to have proof of his innocence, leading to a chase on horseback. The tale takes comedic turns as Egbert escapes the hotel and encounters various mishaps while being pursued. Later, Egbert finds himself in trouble with a building manager named Mr. Stuffy Pig after causing damage to the structure, ultimately resulting in his firing from what appears to be his first job.
