Edge of Venomverse #3

The Venomverse keeps expanding in thrilling directions, and issue #3 of this 2017 Marvel series makes a vivid case for just how wild that concept can get. Francesco Mattina's cover depicts a massive, symbiote-fused figure whose skull blazes with hellfire — a nightmare fusion of the Venom symbiote's jagged black form and a Ghost Rider-style inferno — surrounded by tendrils of living darkness and wreathed in roaring orange flames. It's a genuinely striking piece of painted artwork from Mattina, who handled pencils, inks, and colors himself, delivering a brooding, atmospheric image that sets the tone for whatever Spurrier and Walker have cooked up inside.
