Tom Culver, seeking the lost Maypools, meets Dr. MacWhirtle in Nairobi. MacWhirtle agrees to introduce Culver to Tarzan. When they find Tarzan he tells them that the Maypools are in New Athne. MacWhirtle flies Tom there and Tom is captured by the Athneans. Tarzan goes to their rescue.
