Deadman se souvient des menaces d'un autre acrobate, l'Aigle, qui avait déjà tenté de le tuer. Deadman traque l'Aigle, croyant qu'il a assassiné Boston Brand, mais découvre plutôt un ensemble différent d'actes criminels. Lorsque Deadman apprend que le détective affecté à son affaire de meurtre a été déshonoré et contraint de démissionner, il découvre un complot qui peut être lié à sa mort, mais le seul témoin est assassiné.
