Dwergen #17
In this seventeenth volume of Dwergen, the cover art by Pierre-Denis Goux pulls you straight into a rugged highland world where a weathered, white-bearded dwarf rides a massive, bristling wild boar — a bird of prey perched proudly on his arm — while a young man crouches in the foreground, tending to a small piglet against a backdrop of misty mountains and a thatched farmstead. The title "Gurdan van de mout" promises a story rooted in this earthy, mythic setting that the Dwergen series has made its own. Julia Pinchuk's rich, textured colors give the whole scene a wonderfully grounded, almost painterly quality that makes this 2022 entry a fine showcase for the series.
