DV8 #9 arrives with an unsettling bang, its "EVOlution!" banner framing a snarling, green-skinned winged figure lunging straight at the reader with clawed hands and glowing red eyes — a genuinely striking cover by penciler Juvaun Kirby and inker Cabin Boy. The swooping, cape-like wings and predatory expression set an appropriately dark tone for a story titled "Paranoid Conspiracies." Image's 1997 lineup had plenty of attitude, and this issue fits right in with its sharp linework and moody purple-and-blue atmosphere.
