The masked lawman known as the Durango Kid encounters a mysterious stranger calling himself "Hermit" Jones, who claims to have been away from civilization for many years and now leads a Native American tribe. When the Durango Kid arrives at the tribe's village, Jones initially warns him away, but the Kid explains his mission to the tribe's chief and attempts to convince Jones to rejoin civilization. Jones refuses and declares that wearing a mask makes the Durango Kid an outlaw in his territory, leading to a confrontation where the Kid must prove his worth and enforce the law despite Jones's objections.
