Part four of "Shadows of the Vampire" arrives with a cover by Max Dunbar that sets a perfectly gothic mood: rain-lashed cobblestones, a foreboding spired manor glowing ominously in the background, and two adventurers — a tall, cloaked warrior and a smaller, determined companion — standing back-to-back as snarling werewolves close in from every side. The tension radiating off that image alone makes this 2016 IDW series feel like essential D&D storytelling. With Jim Zub writing and Nelson Dániel handling art, inks, and colors throughout, "Parade of Pain" promises the kind of dark, atmospheric fantasy that earns its place in any collection.
