Drumhellar #8

Drumhellar's eighth issue from Image/Shadowline showcases Riley Rossmo's wonderfully off-kilter sensibility, with a trench-coated figure gripping a hockey stick and gazing warily at a looming, ghostly white specter behind him — while a grinning pink cat prowls near his feet. The psychedelic swirl of purple, orange, and gold surrounding the scene perfectly captures the series' blend of shamanic weirdness and deadpan cool. Rossmo pulls double duty as both writer (alongside Alex Link) and full artist here, making this a showcase issue for one of 2014's most visually distinctive voices in creator-owned comics.
