Percath believes the appearance of the dragon is the sign that the Burgon will overpower the Valkyr and rule them. Saul decides he must sacrifice himself. Percath strikes Kaaran when she tries to get near her father, so Ryanon eats Percath and destroys the village, forcing the humans out.
