Doom Patrol #66

Doom Patrol #66 drops readers into the surreal Vertigo corner of the DC universe with a cover that says everything about this series' strange, unsettling energy. Richard Case's artwork presents a massive, masked mechanical figure looming over a candy display labeled "Food for Thought," bound by crackling yellow energy lines against a backdrop of industrial pipes and shadowy figures — an image that feels genuinely disquieting in that distinctly 1993 Doom Patrol way. Rachel Pollack's run on the title was already pushing boundaries, and "Sliding in the Wreckage, Part Three: The Pig It Was That Lived" promises another chapter of the weird, wonderful storytelling this series made its hallmark.
