Doom Patrol #1

DC's "New! All Different!" Doom Patrol relaunches in December 2001 with a cover by Tan Eng Huat that's equal parts striking and wryly funny — a massive golden robot head dominates the foreground, its polished helmet reflecting four new team members: a grinning young man clutching a jack-o'-lantern, a redheaded woman, a dark-skinned woman in a midriff top, and a brooding heavyset figure with arms crossed. The robot's thought bubble delivers the deadpan punchline: "We're doomed." Writer John Arcudi signals right away that this incarnation of the team balances genuine weirdness with a sharp sense of humor.
