“La nuit du tombeur”
About this Collection

This fifth volume of the Donjon Monsters sub-series, 'La Nuit du tombeur,' continues the darkly comedic fantasy saga set in the sprawling dungeon universe created by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim. The story focuses on a specific monster-centric adventure, expanding the lore of the world while maintaining the series' signature blend of humor and adventure.

In "La nuit du tombeur," Horous grapples with the weight of his necromantic studies while navigating a chaotic household that’s reluctantly welcoming Alcibiade—despite his lack of magical training. With the added burden of caring for Tristan, a towering brute whose mind matches his strength in inverse proportion, and facing wild accusations of fathering a string of pregnancies he denies, the night promises to be anything but quiet. Written by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim and illustrated by Jean-Emmanuel Vermot-Desroches—with inks and letters by the same—this 2003 Delcourt issue delivers a surreal, darkly comedic clash of intellect, absurdity, and supernatural tension, all framed by Vermot-Desroches’ distinctive cover art.
