Don Winslow tracks a series of mysterious rocket bomb strikes in the Sierra Nevada, leading him to uncover a hidden Japanese submarine operated by the fanatical former American, Tom Toguchi—better known as The American. As Don and his pilot, Red, close in on the sub, they face deadly anti-aircraft fire and a desperate race to rescue Red while outmaneuvering the enemy’s final, deadly gambit.

In a lighthearted naval mishap, Don Winslow, Shipwreck Jones, and Seaweed Sam find themselves at sea when Seaweed’s off-key singing drives the others to distraction—until the noise accidentally reveals a nearby enemy submarine. As chaos unfolds, the trio must navigate both the absurdity of Seaweed’s voice and the real danger of the lurking sub, all while trying to keep the ship afloat and their sanity intact.

Flatbush Foley, a young boxer tired of being overshadowed by his managers Don Winslow and Red Pennington, quits their team to go it alone—only to fall under the corrupt control of a shady promoter named Slick Bevins. When Flatbush discovers his past victories were rigged and his current fight is set to be fixed again, he must find a way to fight back while still protecting his reputation.
