This Fawcett Publication from 1947 puts Commander Winslow front and center in a heart-pounding waterborne confrontation — he lunges from a speeding motorboat toward a blonde figure on water skis who's brandishing a pistol, while crew members scramble in the background and a fleeing man leaps from the stern. The tagline says it all: "Commander Winslow Battles the Highwaymen of the Seas!" — and the cover absolutely delivers on that promise with its churning waves and kinetic energy. A terrific snapshot of mid-century naval adventure comics at their most entertaining.
