Dog Man #5

The fifth Dog Man adventure from Dav Pilkey puts a tiny crowned rabbit-eared villain front and center, boldly striding across the sandy ground while clutching an even tinier skeleton figure — all framed inside the enormous open jaws of a giant yellow cat head surrounded by lush jungle foliage. It's a wonderfully goofy composition that captures the series' signature mix of silliness and surprising menace. Pilkey's bold lines and bright colors make this 2018 Scholastic volume as eye-catching on a shelf as any superhero epic.
