The cover tagline says it all — "Greatest Friend, Fiercest Enemy!" — as Doctor Strange and a snarling, monstrous figure clash amid a nightmarish tangle of dark branches and disembodied floating eyeballs, the eerie blue atmosphere giving the whole scene an unsettling, otherworldly dread. Kevin Nowlan's cover art renders both combatants with visceral energy: Strange straining upward with a mystical gesture while his grotesque opponent lunges down, teeth bared, an eye embedded in his forehead and dark tentacled creatures writhing between them. With Jason Aaron writing and Chris Bachalo on interior art, this 2017 issue promises the kind of supernatural tension that makes the Sorcerer Supreme's world so compellingly strange.
