Doc Savage #9

Part of DC's First Wave line, this ninth issue of Doc Savage — subtitled "Warlord of Desolation" — arrives with a striking cover by J. G. Jones that places the massively built, shirtless Man of Bronze front and center, his expression calm and commanding against a warm amber sky. In the foreground, a group of armed, robed figures accompanies a large spotted hyena, with ornate Middle Eastern-style architecture rising in the background — suggesting Doc is squarely in the middle of something dangerous and far from home. Writers Iván Brandon and Brian Azzarello team with artists Nic Klein and James Harren for the interior story "Man of Fire," and the issue also includes a Justice Inc. second feature by Jason Starr and Scott Hampton.
