DMZ #6
DMZ #6 opens the five-part "Body of a Journalist" arc with a cover by Brian Wood that feels more like a found photograph than a comic book image — a lone hooded figure, hands bound, stands against a weathered American flag, the whole scene framed like a hostage snapshot stamped with a date code. The stark black-and-white palette and raw, documentary aesthetic make this Vertigo series feel genuinely unlike anything else on the 2006 rack. Wood and Riccardo Burchielli's unflinching vision of a war-torn Manhattan continues to earn its mature-readers rating.
