DMZ #14
A phalanx of riot-gear-clad soldiers bearing "TRUST" markings on their armor faces outward with quiet menace in the upper half of Brian Wood's striking cover, while below, a masked figure looms against a cityscape crossed by helicopters — two very different kinds of presence in the DMZ. This is the second chapter of the five-part "Public Works" arc, with Wood writing and Riccardo Burchielli on art, and the cover alone captures the series' tense tension between institutional force and ground-level resistance. Vertigo's mature-readers war drama was firing on all cylinders in early 2007, and this issue comes with a free preview of Scalped tucked inside as a bonus.
