The third volume of Dufaux and Mirallès's sensuous Franco-Belgian series takes its title — Le Tatouage — from the breathtaking image on its cover: a woman seen from behind, her bare skin adorned with intricate geometric and crescent-moon tattoos that wind across her back in warm amber and red tones, her cascade of dark curls framing the composition. Ana Mirallès's painterly linework turns the human body itself into a canvas, and the deep crimson backdrop lends the whole image an atmosphere of mystery and intimacy.
