Disney Villains: Hades #1

Dynamite Entertainment puts the Lord of the Underworld front and center in this 2023 series opener, with a cover by Karen S. Darboe that captures Hades in a brilliantly unsettling close-up — his sharp-toothed grin and glowing yellow eye radiating menace against swirling blues and blacks, while a ghostly spirit form looms behind him in the shadows. Writer Elliott Kalan and artist Alessandro Ranaldi team up to give Disney's smoothest-talking deity his own spotlight series, and if this cover is any indication, the tone is delightfully dark with just the right hint of mischief. Fans of the animated trickster god will find plenty to love here.
