Known for his dynamic, expressive artwork and imaginative storytelling, the creator brings a distinctive European sensibility to Walt Disney's iconic characters. The collection showcases a lesser-known but highly regarded era of Mickey Mouse comics, originally serialized in the 1950s and 1960s.
In "The River of Time Part One," Peg-Leg Pete returns to Mickey Mouse's life with a surprising twist: the long-lost wreck of the Steamboat Willie has been found beneath the river's treacherous Devil's Bend. With Pete pushing the idea of a salvage claim and Mickey—ever the reluctant partner—agreeing to help, the two former crewmates embark on a journey into their shared past. Written by Francesco Artibani, Tito Faraci, and Dwight Decker, and brought to life by Corrado Mastantuono’s dynamic art and coloring from Disney Italia, this story rekindles a forgotten chapter in their history. The cover, also by Mastantuono, captures the mood of mystery and nostalgia.

Peg-Leg Pete pays an uninvited call on Mickey with the news that the wreck of the "Steamboat Willie" - the steamboat that Pete once captained and Mickey once crewed (presumably before Pete turned permanently to crime) - has been found, sunken deep below the river's "Devil's Bend". Pete gets Mickey (with no police record) to file a salvage claim, while he acquires a ramshackle salvage boat. The pair become "pals" long enough to try to reclaim that key part of their intertwined past.
