Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: A Spoon Too Short #5

The fifth and final issue of A Spoon Too Short wraps up IDW's 2016 miniseries with a cover that perfectly captures Dirk Gently's wonderfully chaotic worldview — the self-satisfied detective lounges in a cluttered barn or shed, cradling a teacup with characteristic nonchalance while a black cat perches nearby, dark smoke billowing overhead, and a menagerie of toy animals, puzzle pieces, miniature soldiers, and a military vehicle crowd the floor around him. Peering in from the background is a grumpy older figure, adding just the right note of exasperated comedy. Ilias Kyriazis's cover art delivers the series' signature blend of whimsy and absurdist detail, with Arvind Ethan David and Charlie Kirchoff rounding out the creative team for what Douglas Adams fans have already called a worthy continuation of the holistic detective's spirit.
