Aus Angst um die Gesundheit seiner Tante und weil er es leid ist, von Jameson gejagt zu werden, gibt Peter Spider-Man-Leben auf und will ein einfacher College-Student sein. Ein Kind findet den Spidey-Anzug in der Mülltonne und bringt ihn zum Daily Bugle, wo Jonah ihn stolz zur Schau stellt. Petes Privatleben beginnt sich zu verbessern, aber die Kriminalität nimmt zu, als der Kingpin die Mafia unter seiner Führung versammelt. Mit Schuldgefühlen wegen der Verbrechenswelle erinnert sich Peter an die Lektionen, die ihn der Tod von Ben gelehrt hat und beschließt, noch einmal Spider-Man zu werden.
