Tracy's ruse to catch Mr. Crime drives him to flight. When Mr. Crime tries to get his partner to flee with him, they argue and end up killing each other. After putting the case to bed, Tracy heads home but is sidetracked when he sees a small girl wandering in the snow. She points to her dog hiding in a culvert. Tracy tries to coax the dog out and then finds himself trapped as three thugs tie his wrists to the culvert supports and leave him to die.
