Subtitled "Nature Boy" right on the cover, this October 2002 DC/Cartoon Network issue finds Dexter surrounded by a wild menagerie of stylized creatures — a tropical fish, a chameleon, an octopus, a seahorse, a shrimp, a butterfly, and several other quirky critters rendered in Bill Wray's wonderfully flat, retro-cartoon style. The boy genius himself peers out from the middle of the crowd, looking equal parts curious and overwhelmed by all the wildlife. It's a charming, inventive cover that captures the show's offbeat humor perfectly.
