Dustin Nguyen's delicate watercolor work is on full display here, with a small, solitary robot standing at the base of enormous, ghostly pale trees — its diminutive scale against the gnarled roots making the scene feel both haunting and quietly poignant. Below the waterline, a seething mass of monstrous, open-mawed creatures lurks in red-tinged reflection, suggesting that beneath this eerie stillness something far more dangerous stirs. The third chapter of "Rise of the Robots" arrives mid-arc with real visual tension, and Jeff Lemire and Nguyen's sci-fi universe feels as atmospheric as ever.
