Descender #11
Dustin Nguyen's delicate watercolor work is on full display here, rendering the boy-robot TIM-21 suspended mid-fall, his small human-like face slack and vulnerable while an overwhelming tangle of wires, cables, and exposed mechanical components envelops his upper body against a stark white background. The image captures something genuinely haunting — the fragile child form swallowed by cold machinery — and it's the kind of cover that stops you cold on a shelf. Jeff Lemire and Nguyen continue "Machine Moon" with this fifth installment, and the visual tension of that dangling, disassembled figure makes it hard not to want answers immediately.
