Dept. H #9
Matt and Sharlene Kindt's Dept. H continues its deep-sea murder mystery with one of its most unsettling cover images yet — a meticulously rendered African grey parrot perched on a branch, its lower body drenched in vivid crimson splatter against an otherwise stark, sketch-like composition. The contrast between the delicate ink-work feathers and that burst of red makes the image quietly haunting in a way that feels entirely in keeping with a series subtitled "murder six miles deep." Issue #9 is a compelling reminder of why this Dark Horse Originals series earned attention for treating comics as a genuinely artistic medium.
