The opening issue of this Image series from writer Christopher Sebela and artist Niko Walter announces itself with one of the most striking covers of 2016: a lone figure stands at the far end of a darkened urban alley, bathed in an eerie teal light, while the shadow stretching toward us takes the unmistakable shape of a massive, monstrous demon. Dan Brown's cool blue palette makes that blood-red demonic silhouette hit all the harder. It's a beautifully unsettling image that sets a tone of dread and duality right from the start.
