The second chapter of Deep — subtitled "Massa-Extinctie" — arrives with a cover that's genuinely hard to look away from: two naval warships cutting through a churning sea while an enormous, churning swarm of insects erupts from a wall of murky haze behind them, dragonflies and other winged creatures filling the sky in an unsettling cloud. Federico Pietrobon's cover art, inked and colored alongside Marta Martinez, blends military hardware with something far more primal, setting a tone that sits right at the intersection of ecological dread and action-thriller. Written by Stéphane Betbeder, this 2014 Belgian release promises a story where humanity's machines may be no match for nature's own forces.
