Deathstroke's uneasy experiment in heroism continues in this 2017 DC Universe Rebirth chapter, "The Absence of Light." Ryan Sook's cover looms Slade Wilson's unmasked, battle-hardened face large over the members of his Defiance team — figures in white-and-black uniforms clashing and tumbling in a blur of staffs and combative energy. It's a striking composition that captures the tension at the heart of a mercenary trying to lead a team, and with Priest writing alongside artist Diógenes Neves, the series remains one of the sharpest character studies in DC's 2017 lineup.
