Deadpool: Mission Improbable #[nn]
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis collection brings together the 1998 miniseries Deadpool: Mission Improbable, a comedic espionage romp that sees the Merc with a Mouth take on a series of absurd, high-stakes assignments. Written by Joe Kelly with art by various creators, the story parodies spy tropes as Deadpool navigates a convoluted plot involving time travel, clones, and his own fractured psyche. The volume collects the full four-issue limited series.
"Hey, It's Deadpool! or...Deadpool #1" kicks off with the Merc with a Mouth back from a Bolivia mission—revolutions, revolutionary bucks, and all—only to face off against Patch in merc central. His next assignment takes him to Antarctica, where he clashes with Sasquatch and accidentally triggers a meltdown at a gamma research station, forcing him to improvise a fix before the whole southern hemisphere gets irradiated. Afterward, he’s approached by Zoe and Noah with a chance to join Landau, Luckman and Lake, but Deadpool’s quick to decline—being a hero just isn’t his style. Written by Joe Kelly and illustrated by Ed McGuinness, with dynamic inks by Nathan Massengill and Norman Lee, and vibrant colors by Digital Chameleon and Chris Lichtner, the cover by Ed McGuinness captures Deadpool’s signature chaos in bold, sharp lines.
In "Hey, It's Deadpool!," the Merc with a Mouth returns from a Bolivia gig—complete with a wallet full of revolutionary cash—only to be sent on a wild new mission to Antarctica. There, he teams up (sort of) with Sasquatch, accidentally blows up a gamma research station, and then has to fix the resulting meltdown before the whole southern hemisphere turns into a radioactive soup. Afterward, he’s offered a spot with the seemingly legit firm Landau, Luckman and Lake, but Deadpool’s not about to trade his chaos for a suit and tie.
In "Operation: Rescue Weasel/That Wacky Doctor's Game!", Deadpool’s attempt to spy on Siryn takes a wild turn when he intercepts a ninja squad kidnapping his old pal Weasel. Tracking the duo to a desert compound in Nevada, Deadpool stumbles into a training ground run by Taskmaster, only to be outsmarted—until he flips the script with a surprise tactic that leaves even the master of mimicry stunned.
In a hilariously awkward twist, Deadpool’s attempt to regrow his missing middle finger goes hilariously wrong—leaving him more flustered than usual—only to be further humiliated when Black Tom sends him the very glove from his severed hand. Now teamed up with Siryn, Deadpool sets out to take down her evil uncle, only to stumble upon Killebrew, the doctor who helped create him, who delivers a shocking revelation about his failing healing factor.
In "Why Is It to Save Me, I Must Kill You?", Deadpool finds himself in a sticky situation: to survive, he must steal a blood sample from the Hulk—no easy task when the big guy’s got a serious problem with being poked. Written with his trademark chaos and wit, this 1998 tale sees the Merc with a Mouth pushed to his limits, all in a bid to reclaim his health—though whether the cure will truly work remains to be seen.
In "The Doctor Is Skinned! ...or, The End of Our First Story Arc," Wade Wilson, finally free from his cursed condition, turns his razor-sharp focus on Killebrew—the doctor who once tortured him in the Weapon X program—only to find his path blocked by Siryn, whose moral compass clashes with his bloodlust. Meanwhile, T-Ray, still deep in the business of killing, plots his next move, turning the already chaotic mission into something even more unpredictable.
