The third season of De zang van de vampiers opens with "Ontvoeringen" — and this 2013 entry from Daedalus sets a tense, moody tone right from the cover. Richard Guérineau's artwork places a determined young woman in a leather jacket, pistol in hand, at the foreground of a grim industrial warehouse, while behind her a hooded figure menaces a shirtless man suspended by his wrists — all of it overshadowed by the looming, ghostly face of a monstrous presence that dominates the composition. Corbeyran and Guérineau, with Luca Malisan's atmospheric coloring in cold greens and grays, deliver exactly the kind of brooding, high-stakes vampire thriller that fans of the series have come to expect.
