De Kiekeboes #66
Issue 66 of the beloved Belgian family series De Kiekeboes delivers a delightfully macabre scene: the Kiekeboe family — a red-haired woman, a blonde young woman, and a small child — stumble wide-eyed through what appears to be an ossuary or crypt, surrounded on all sides by skeletal figures dressed in period clothing, with skulls and mummified remains displayed in open cases. A stoic monk in a brown habit stands calmly in the foreground, seemingly unbothered by the unsettling surroundings. Titled De Hoofdzaak ("The Main Thing" — with a punny nod to "hoofd," meaning both "main" and "head"), this 2010 album from Standaard Uitgeverij balances the series' signature mix of family comedy and gleefully ghoulish atmosphere.
