De Chninkel #3
Rosiński's atmospheric cover for this 2002 Casterman edition draws you in immediately — a pale, wide-eyed child huddles at the center, flanked by two imposing dark-cloaked figures, one horned and menacing, the other pale and gaunt, while a winged creature perches watchfully above them all against a cold stone backdrop. The subtitle "Het Oordeel" (The Judgment) hangs over the scene with quiet gravity, perfectly matching the tense, brooding mood that Jean Van Hamme's storytelling is known for. It's a beautifully rendered piece that makes this Dutch-language volume of De Chninkel hard to set back down on the shelf.
