The opening chapter of this twelve-issue DC limited series wastes no time signaling its premise: Batman and a second hero — weapons raised — stand back-to-back against a seething horde of snarling, fang-bared vampires stretching to the blood-red horizon. Otto Schmidt's cover work is visceral and atmospheric, bathing the scene in smoky oranges and crimson that make the threat feel genuinely overwhelming. With James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg co-writing, this 2021 series looks to put the entire DC Universe on the defensive in a big, pulpy way.
