David and Goliath #2

From Image Comics in 2003, David and Goliath #2 brings together a striking cast of animated-style characters — including a young winged child poring over an open book, a worried woman, a suited man with crossed arms, a lion-like figure, and an elderly robed character — all overshadowed by a massive, snarling dark creature with glowing red eyes looming ominously above them. The tension between the small, curious group below and the towering beast above gives this cover a wonderful sense of scale and peril. Cover art by Leonel Castellani and Daniel Griffo makes the most of that contrast, drawing you right into the "Lex Talionis" chapter of this Image series.
