Date with Debbi #10

DC's teen romance series serves up a perfectly charming slice of 1970 suburban comedy on this Henry Scarpelli cover, where Debbi — wearing her school guard sash and holding hands with a very stylish young man in a polka-dot jacket — gets a sharp scolding from an indignant older woman: "You're only supposed to help LITTLE BOYS across the street, Debbi!" A small group of kids looks on from the sidewalk in the background, making the whole scene feel wonderfully lively. It's a fun snapshot of Debbi's hilariously complicated social life, and a great reminder of why this series had such an easygoing, lighthearted appeal.
