Darth Vader #18

The brooding tension of this 2018 Marvel series reaches a striking pitch in issue #18, "Bad Ground," as the cover places an armed Imperial officer in sharp foreground focus while Darth Vader stalks through a storm-lit alien landscape behind him — red lightsaber blazing among strange purple-canopied trees and jagged rock formations. There's an unmistakable unease in the officer's expression and grip on his blaster, with lightning crackling overhead to heighten the atmosphere of barely contained menace. Giuseppe Camuncoli's cover art, both penciled and inked by his own hand with colors by David Curiel, delivers a beautifully moody composition that makes this issue impossible to pass by.
