Dark Ride #5 delivers one of 2023's most viscerally unsettling covers: a ride car adorned with a grinning demon mascot hurtles toward a massive fanged maw, its curved horns studded with glowing gems looming overhead while severed heads bob ominously in the bloody water below. Two passengers — a blonde adult and a smaller figure — sit helplessly in the car as the darkness swallows them whole. Andrei Bressan's art, drenched in Adriano Lucas's lurid pinks and purples, makes this Williamson-penned horror series feel like the most genuinely threatening theme park you'd never want to visit.
