Dark Reign: Hawkeye #2
Two archers locked in a snarling, nose-to-nose standoff dominate Clint Langley's striking cover — one in the purple-cowled costume of Hawkeye, the other in a dark, feathered rival's mask, their crossed arrows and bladed tips forming a tense X between them. It's the kind of face-off that perfectly captures the charged atmosphere of Marvel's 2009 Dark Reign event, with Andy Diggle writing and Tom Raney on interior art. Issue 2 of 5 promises the conflict is only escalating.

Hawkeye has been caught on film killing police officers and has to take out the helicopter of reporters who recorded the episode. Norman sends in HAMMER to take over the news station and destroy all evidence, ironically blaming the recent killings on the villain Bullseye. Norman decides that Hawkeye will never accustom himself to being a traditional "hero" and sends him out on a mission to waste bad guys. When Hawkeye arrives, he discovers that his targets have already been dispatched by Bullseye. But HE'S Bullseye.
