“Dark Reign Elektra Part 1”

In *Dark Reign: Elektra* #1, a fractured world reeling from *Secret Invasion* sees Elektra emerge from a mysterious spaceship—her allies replaced by Skrulls—only to be imprisoned by Iron Man. As Norman Osborn consolidates power through HAMMER, brutal experiments begin on her, probing the secrets of her altered state, until Paladin’s assassination attempt turns into a deadly game she still manages to win. Written by Zeb Wells and illustrated by Clay Mann, with inks by Mark Pennington and colors by Matt Hollingsworth, the issue’s stark, intense visuals are matched by Lee Bermejo’s striking cover.

Elektra emerges from the spaceship at the end of the Secret Invasion with the rest of the heroes replaced by Skrulls and is immediately incarcerated by Iron Man. Once Osborn takes over and replaces SHIELD with HAMMER, he allows brutal experiments to be done on Elektra to find out what exactly the Skrulls did to her. Paladin sneaks into the compound in order to assassinate Elektra but, even all bound up, she gets the best of him and escapes Osborn's clutches.
