Marvel's Dark Ages reaches its fourth chapter with a cover by Iban Coello that throws an extraordinary cast into absolute chaos — X-23 charges forward with claws drawn in the foreground, while a massive reptilian creature breathes fire at the center of the melee, with Ant-Man hurling purple energy blasts to the left, a gun-wielding man bracing against the creature's assault to the right, and Spider-Man swinging through the wreckage above. Colorist Brian Reber bathes the whole scene in vivid contrasts of purple, gold, and teal, giving the composition a genuinely cinematic intensity. Tom Taylor's writing and Coello's art continue to make this alternate-Marvel series one of the more visually ambitious offerings of 2022.
