The issue was written by Charles Soule, with full art duties — pencils, inks, and colors — handled by Phil Noto, a pairing that gave the book a distinctively sleek, slightly retro palette well-suited to a story steeped in 1960s continuity. Editors Devin Lewis and Lauren Amaro shepherded the book under Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski's tenure. Soule has noted on his own website that explaining the mechanism by which Mike became real was genuinely tricky to work out, given that the original Mike Murdock was never meant to be anything more than a temporary secret-identity dodge, and he expected fan pushback on using the Inhuman Reader's powers as the catalyst — pushback that, by his own account, never materialized.
