Daredevil #509
Part of Marvel's 2010 Shadowland crossover, this installment finds Iron Fist and Luke Cage squaring off against what appears to be an overwhelming threat — the cover by John Cassaday places the two Heroes for Hire front and center, fists raised and ready, while a darkly commanding Daredevil looms large behind them, surrounded by a sea of menacing Hand ninja silhouettes against a blood-red sky. The tension between allies and adversaries feels palpable, with Matt Murdock's double-D insignia casting a long shadow over the scene. Andy Diggle and Antony Johnston's script, brought to life by Roberto de la Torre's linework and Matt Hollingsworth's moody colors, promises the kind of street-level Marvel drama that made this era of Daredevil so compelling.
