"Life on the Ocean Waves" follows U.S. Marines Spike Downy and Bat Battingsley as they serve aboard a ship where they encounter pirates led by the evil John Kidd who boards their vessel; after a battle, Captain Comet appears and confronts Kidd, revealing shared knowledge of matters concerning the planets. The opening story depicts dock workers and supernatural elements, with a young boy encountering what appears to be a ghostly or mysterious presence at a warehouse.
In the moonlit lagoon of a Solomon Islands isle, Fiji Joe and his friend Ehaa race against time to rescue Ehaa’s beloved Nolea after she’s kidnapped by Captain Trask, who’s desperate to learn the secret of the deadly pearl beds. As Trask’s men terrorize the island, Fiji Joe uncovers the truth: the so-called "White Octopus" is not a monster, but a deadly trap of giant clams that only the Malatea divers know how to navigate—leaving outsiders to drown in the dark.
In a tense, shadowed corner of the city’s waterfront, a nervous newcomer named Jo is thrust into a dangerous game of deception after being handed a mysterious case and forced to deliver it to a deserted warehouse. As he’s pushed deeper into the web of lies, the weight of his situation grows—especially when the man he’s been mistaken for, a man named Servo, returns from exile with a past that refuses to stay buried.
In the summer of 1066, King Harold of England faced dual invasions—one from the Norwegian king Harald Hardrada and his ally, Earl Tostig, and another from Duke William of Normandy. After defeating the Norse forces at Stamford Bridge, Harold rushed south to confront William’s invading army, leading to the decisive Battle of Hastings.
Spike Dowdy and Bat Battingsley, two Marine buddies on a two-week liberty, embark on a wildly misguided adventure after a bet over who gets to visit their shared love, Georgette, in Tokyo. When Bat’s wallet is stolen by a goat, the duo strikes a deal with the animal to sail a stranded ship to salvage its treasure—only to navigate by the rising sun, drift into fog, and accidentally sail back to Korea. Their chaotic misadventures, fueled by hunger, poor navigation, and a sleeping captain, land them in trouble with the real crew, who accuse them of piracy.
Captain Comet, imprisoned by the dreaded space pirate John Kidd after his ship, the Starhope, is hijacked, must outwit the pirate and his crew while hiding a critical signal device and the plans for new interplanetary shipping lanes. Trapped on the isolated planetoid Xenor, he rallies a group of prisoners to seize control of the pirate’s atmospheric plant and trigger a desperate escape. With time running out and the pirates closing in, Comet’s hidden signal—strapped to his chest and disguised as a weapon—finally draws the rescue fleet.
